Everyone deserves the opportunity to live independently and maintain control over their life choices. At accessABILITY, we provide individuals with disabilities in Central Indiana with the support, advocacy, and resources they need to lead self-directed lives.

As one of 10 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in Indiana, we work with individuals, businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits to promote accessibility, inclusion, and respect for all. By ensuring people have the tools to thrive, we help create communities enriched by the full participation of everyone.

As a disability led-organization, we know that no two journeys are ever the same. Our peer support model means that we employ people with disabilities to share their experiences and expertise to help others in their journey to independence.

Information and Referral

Our Information & Referral service is a reliable source for disability rights, options, and resources. We provide guidance on issues affecting people with disabilities, including civil rights, for individuals, organizations, and businesses.

Independent Living Skills Training

accessABILITY provides hands-on training to help individuals navigate independent living, whether for the first time, after acquiring a disability, or during life transitions. Our advocates work with you in your environment to set and achieve personal goals.

Peer Counseling

Peer support is fundamental to our philosophy and service delivery. Many of our staff and volunteers have disabilities and draw from their lived experiences to provide meaningful guidance. They help others explore possibilities, navigate challenges, and create solutions in a meaningful and supportive way.

Individual and Systems Advocacy

We advocate for people with disabilities through individual and systems advocacy, empowering them to exercise their rights and lead their lives independently. We also collaborate with businesses, government agencies, and communities to promote accessibility, inclusion, and disability awareness.

Transition Services

We empower people with disabilities to live independently by facilitating relocation from nursing homes and institutions to home and community-based living. Our services also provide support to those who are at risk of institutionalization and help young people with disabilities successfully transition into higher education, the workforce, and independent community living.
